PA Auto Insurance: |
Required Coverage: | None |
Our Recommendation: | Depends upon your vehicle’s value |
Collision insurance pays to repair damage to your vehicle which is the result of a collision or your car overturning. Most banks and lenders require you to purchase this coverage when you obtain a car loan. The default deductible under Pennsylvania law is $500, but you could request a different amount. Remember, the higher the deductible, the lower your premium.
Comprehensive insurance reimburses you for losses from theft, or for damages from “acts of God” and other hazards including fire, flood, vandalism or hitting an animal. As with collision insurance, most banks and lenders require this coverage if you are to receive an auto loan.
